Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) are back for another ride in Bad Boys for Life (Sony Pictures Entertainment). As the two team up to face a drug cartel in a last on-screen assignment, THE THIRD FLOOR and the Bad Boys’ VFX team worked together to develop and realize new high-octane chase scenes, falls and other stunts that the series has become known for.
“For one of the main climatic scenes, we worked from storyboards and ideas from the vfx supervisor to outline the shots in the virtual world before filming. The techvis’ main objective was to show how the same set could be used to shoot various sequences for cost efficiency, as well as to provide blueprints for the stunts. The sequence involved characters falling from a high balcony and we were tasked with how this could be done safely using minimal CG and taking advantage of practical shooting. We provided options using techvis to show how each shot could be done including alternatives to how each stunt could technically be achieved.” notes Visualization Supervisor Mitch Gonzalez.
“It was an honor and a privilege to work very closely with Spiro Razatos, one of the leading stunt coordinators and second unit directors in Hollywood, for car chase sequences,” Gonzalez added.“We were able to lean heavily on the previs to visualize an intense chase sequence that included some very dynamic stunts. The final on-screen visuals closely match our previs, which is always rewarding for us to see.”
