The Third Floor Wins Emmy Award with the Visual Effects Team for HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’

09.13.2016 — Categories: ,

We are incredibly proud of The Third Floor’s artists who received the 2016 Creative Arts Emmy® Award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects for HBO’s Game of Thrones. Eric Carney, visual effects plate supervisor, and Michelle Blok, previs supervisor, led The Third Floor’s contributions in creative and technical previs and planning for this season’s epic Episode 9 “The Battle of the Bastards.”

We are honored to have contributed to such an amazing show since Season 4 and to have won a third consecutive Emmy® Award with Visual Effects Supervisor Joe Bauer, Visual Effects Producer Steve Kullback and our colleagues on the visual effects crew. It’s great to work so closely on site and on set with the production, interfacing with key departments to represent both the creative vision and the technical parameters that are needed to bring these scenes to life.

Our team was thrilled to tackle work across the season, which included two of the most complex scenes of Episode 9, “The Battle of the Bastards.” This involved motion control shots for Dany’s dragon flights and helping to plan Jon Snow’s epic battle sequence, with a significant contribution from TTF’s own Pat Gehlen.
