A European excursion goes south as Peter Parker finds himself up against the elements in Spider-Man: Far From Home (Sony Pictures Entertainment). In a repeat collaboration with Director Jon Watts, THE THIRD FLOOR mapped out Spider-Man’s adventure across multiple action and story beats in a transcendent journey that leads us far back home into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
One of the team’s challenges was visualizing villains in many forms — from water monsters in Venice to fire beasts in Prague. Visualization Supervisor Javier Lopez-Duprey recalls: “The ‘elements’ are big in the movie and that made for some interesting match-ups with everything from water to molten lava. We were able to develop a lot of concepts in our L.A. and London teams and turned ideas around quickly for the production. Especially in work to help shape the final battle, it was fun to help design web-slinging escapades for Spider-Man, Mysterio and their otherworldly foes.”
