Ghostbusters: Afterlife (Sony/Columbia Pictures, 2021), directed by Jason Reitman, sees a family arrive in a small town to later discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and its legacy.
The Third Floor LA worked on selected scenes, supporting creative and technical planning by the filmmakers and a team including VFX Supervisor Sheena Duggal and VFX Producer Jacquie Barnbrook.
In one notable sequence, Louis Tully is chased through a store by a Terror Dog. On the shelves, mini-marshmallows come to life and pop out of a bag. Previs was utilized to help visualize the action and story. Click here to watch a final footage clip from the studio of the Mini-Puffs reveal scene!
Techvis was developed with the filmmakers as they planned the Muncher Chase, when the kids go ghost-hunting whilst driving the iconic Ecto 1. Blocking shots from storyboards, the teams could explore the positions and setups for cameras, equipment and vehicles to help inform production.
