Watchmen

Masked vigilantes take over an alternate universe in the HBO series Watchmen, with THE THIRD FLOOR contributing previs and techvis to this newest adaptation of the classic Watchmen graphic novel/comic.

Working out action sequences, story elements, and visual aesthetics, THE THIRD FLOOR’s artists, led by visualization supervisor Jason Thielen, collaborated with VFX Supervisor Eric Henry on the pilot episode to help bring multiple scenes to life.

“We had some great creative challenges in our work,” Thielen said, “One of these we aptly called ‘cowvis,’ where in techvis we visualized cows to mark the animals in green that would need to be digital. For safety in filming the sequence, no one could run at a cow that was facing them so we had to work out how the cows needed to be positioned and which ones would be CG.”
